I am making this post to give you an ideal of what my published post will be like. I have been researching Greek theatre in general, and more specifically reasons for performing plays in ancient Greece. I have discovered that in the beginning, plays were only ever performed at a festival called City Dionysia. It was a festival for the god Dionysus, for whom theatre was originally invented. Later, theatre evolved into something more general, but isn't it amazing that one of our major worldwide forms of art started at one small festival that was in honor of a god that isn't even worshipped anymore? I think so. I also discovered that in early Greek performances, just one man was the writer, actor, and director. This one man was the only one involved in the given performance. Later, two more actors were added, and then the choir. After that, a performance could pretty much contain as many actors as needed. I also discovered that comedy was derived from mockery and teasing in-story. It is so different now. (definitely not lacking mocking and teasing, though) Check back next week for my final post, with all of my research summed up into one post!
